B2B customers pay late often enough that most finance teams are now shopping for help. Atradius found that 43% of the value of B2B sales in the United States was overdue in 2025. In the trades the gap is starker: in ServiceTitan's 2026 Commercial State of the Trades survey, 82% of commercial contractors send invoices within three days of finishing the work, yet 96% wait at least 15 days to get paid and 30% wait more than 30. If you are comparing accounts receivable software, Upflow is probably on your list. It is an established platform with a broad product, and for many finance teams it is the right choice. For others, Abivo fits better. This page lays out both so you can tell which one you are.
The short version: Upflow is a financial relationship management platform your finance team runs, covering AR insights, collections workflows with AI agents you tune from suggestion-only to fully autonomous, B2B payments and cash application. Abivo is an AI employee for the collections conversation itself: Kate calls, texts and emails your customers about overdue invoices, works from the aging report you already have, and hands the account to a person when judgment is needed. Choose by whether you need a better platform for a team you have, or a worker for a job nobody has time to do.
A note on sources. Upflow is a trademark of its owner, and Abivo is not affiliated with Upflow. Every Upflow detail below comes from Upflow's homepage and Upflow's collections page as read on September 30, 2026. Software changes fast, so confirm current capabilities with Upflow directly.
What Does Upflow Do?
Upflow describes itself as a Financial Relationship Management platform. Its product suite has four live parts, Insights, Collections, Cash App and Payments, with a financing product listed as coming soon. The idea running through all of it is that your finance team, sales and customer success work receivables together, with AI agents taking on volume under rules your team sets.
Collections agents you control
Upflow's collections page lists agents that run collection workflows and handle customer replies, with autonomy set per skill. Replies, promise-to-pay logging and dispute handling can each be off, set to ask before sending, or fully autonomous. Agent instructions can be generated from your last six months of customer conversations. Outreach runs across email, SMS, calls and letters, and the page lists VOIP and calling agents with transcripts and summaries. Upflow also says that in autonomous mode an agent sends only when confident, and that sensitive situations such as cancellations, payment plans, disputes or a frustrated customer escalate to a collector.
Insights, cash application and payments
Beyond collections, Upflow lists an Insights Agent for account context and payment blockers, AR analysis inside Claude and ChatGPT through its MCP server, and billing cohort-based cash forecasting. Its Cash App Agent matches complex payments with multi-bank transaction aggregation and real-time ERP sync. Its payments product offers a branded portal and supports 12 or more payment methods. Collaboration features include a shared AR inbox, CRM sync and unlimited users.
Integrations and industries
Upflow's homepage lists NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Pennylane and Rillet for accounting, Zuora, Chargebee and Stripe Billing for billing, Salesforce and HubSpot for CRM, plus Gmail, Slack and an API. SAP S/4HANA and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central are listed as coming soon. The industries named in its navigation are SaaS, security and compliance, and HR and staffing, and its customer logos lean toward software companies such as Lattice, Productboard and Vercel.
Upflow's center of gravity is the finance team: one platform where your AR people and the rest of the business manage receivables together, with agents that scale the work under your rules.
What Does Abivo Do?
Abivo gives you an AI employee, Kate by default, who works overdue invoices the way a collector would. The agent takes a name you choose and sends from your own email domain, so customers deal with what looks and sounds like a member of your team.
Voice, SMS and email in one worker: Kate phones customers about overdue invoices, texts them, and emails them, on a cadence that does not slip when month end gets busy.
Starts from the report you already run: Abivo works off whatever aging report your system produces. QuickBooks, Xero, Chargebee and Flywire connect directly, and a CSV aging export from any ERP works too, including on-premise systems common in trades and distribution.
Hands off by design: when a customer disputes an invoice, pushes back, or needs a real conversation, the account routes to a named person on your team with the history attached.
Built for invoice-based B2B: net-terms businesses in construction and the trades, fire protection, manufacturing, distribution and professional services. Fire-protection contractors in North America run Abivo's voice agent on their receivables today.
Abivo does not run cash application or process payments. It logs promises, outcomes and payments against the invoices it works, so your team sees what happened on every account. For a plain walkthrough of the calling side, read how an AI agent that calls customers about overdue invoices works, and for results from a live client, see the OFS Group case study.
Abivo's center of gravity is the conversation with your customer: the calls, texts and emails that get an overdue invoice paid, plus the judgment call on when a person should take over.

Which One Fits Your Team?
The honest answer depends on who is doing collections at your company today, and what they are missing.
Upflow is likely the better fit if...
You have an AR team, even a small one, and want to give them a stronger system with agents that multiply their output.
You bill subscriptions or recurring contracts through Stripe Billing, Chargebee or Zuora and want payments and cash application in the same place as collections.
Sales, customer success and leadership need to see and act on receivables alongside finance.
AR analytics and cash forecasting matter to you as much as outreach does.
Abivo is likely the better fit if...
Nobody has time to chase. Collections sits with a controller or office manager who fits it between everything else.
Your customers answer the phone more reliably than they answer email: general contractors, facility managers, AP clerks at distributors.
Your system of record is an on-premise ERP or a construction package, and the aging report is the cleanest thing it exports.
You want collections capacity without a hire. The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median bill and account collector at $22.61 an hour and the mean at $49,060 a year as of May 2025, before benefits.
A fair rule of thumb: if you have people doing collections and want them to do it better, look hard at Upflow. If the problem is that overdue invoices sit because nobody has the hours to call, that is the problem Abivo was built for. How Do Your Systems and Industry Change the Choice?
Category fit is half the decision. The other half is whether the tool works with the systems you already run, without a migration project. Walk your own setup through these three cases.
If you run NetSuite or Sage Intacct and bill subscriptions
This is the setup Upflow's integration list and industry pages point to most directly: an ERP it lists, a billing system it lists, and a software or services customer base. If your team wants collections, cash application and payments woven into that stack, that is a strong signal toward Upflow. Abivo can still work here from the ERP's aging report, but it adds a worker rather than a platform.
If you run QuickBooks or Xero
Both companies list QuickBooks and Xero, so the integration will not decide it. Decide on the job instead. If you need a better place for a person to manage receivables, compare Upflow's workflow tools. If you need someone to make the calls and send the follow-ups, compare Kate's outreach. Ask each vendor to show a real account, start to finish, on your own data.
If you run a construction or on-premise ERP
Trades, manufacturing and distribution businesses often run systems such as Jonas, e-Automate, Sage 100 Contractor or Acumatica. The useful question is not "do you integrate with my ERP" but "can you work from the report my ERP already produces." Abivo's aging-report route was built for this case. Put the same question to every vendor on your list, and ask to see onboarding from a flat file, end to end. Contractors weighing this should also read our guide to collections software for construction contractors, which covers retainage and holdbacks.
What Should You Ask Any Vendor Before You Sign?
Whichever way you lean, these six questions separate a good demo from a good fit.
Show me real outreach. Play a call recording, open an email thread, show a text exchange.
Who talks to my customer when the AI reaches its limit, and how fast does that happen?
Can you start from the aging report my system already produces, and how often does it refresh?
How are disputed invoices, holdbacks and accounts on hold kept out of outreach?
Where are outcomes and promises to pay written, and who on my team sees them?
Can I speak to a named customer in my industry and size band?
Customer relationships are the usual worry with any AI that contacts customers. If that is yours, our piece on whether AI calls hurt customer relationships covers what happens on real calls and when a person should step in.
Practical Takeaways for Evaluators
Write down where your last 20 overdue invoices stalled: no follow-up, a dispute, a cash application error, or a billing mistake. That answer picks your category.
Count the hours your team spends chasing each week. If the honest number is close to zero because nobody has the time, you need capacity, not a better dashboard.
Match the tool to the system you run today, not the one you might migrate to.
Decide which channels your customers actually respond to before you judge any feature list.
Treat every comparison, including this one, as a starting point. Verify on your own data.
FAQ
Is Abivo a direct Upflow competitor?
Partially. Both apply AI to accounts receivable and both automate collections outreach. Upflow is a broader platform that adds insights, cash application and payments for a finance team to run. Abivo concentrates on the outreach itself, with an AI employee who calls, texts and emails customers and hands accounts to your team when needed.
Does Upflow make phone calls to customers?
Upflow's collections page, as read on September 30, 2026, lists multi-channel outreach across email, SMS, calls and letters, and VOIP and calling agents with transcripts and summaries. Ask Upflow directly how calling works on your plan and in your region.
Can I use Upflow and Abivo together?
In principle, yes. A team could run receivables management and cash application in one platform while an AI employee handles the outbound calls on overdue accounts. In practice, most small and mid-sized teams pick one entry point based on their sharpest pain and expand from there.
What proof should I ask each vendor for?
Named customers in your industry who will take a reference call, before-and-after receivables numbers over a defined period, and live examples of real output: recorded calls, email threads, or a matched-payment run.
How often is this comparison updated?
Quarterly, or sooner when either company ships a material change. Both companies ship quickly, so treat any comparison older than a quarter as stale, including this one.
